1.1 This specification covers polyphthalamide materials suitable for injection molding. 1.2 The properties included in this specification are those required to identify the compositions covered. There may be other requirements necessary to identify particular characteristics important to specialized applications. These may be specified by using suffixes as given in Section 5. 1.3 This specification is intended to be a means of calling out plastics materials used in the fabrication of end items or parts. It is not intended for the selection of materials. Material selection should be made by those having expertise in the plastics field after careful consideration of the design and the performance required of the part, the environment to which it will be exposed, the fabrication process to be employed, the inherent properties of the material other than those covered by this specification, and the economics. 1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard (see Practice E380). 1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 12, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Note 5. Note 1-There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard. Note 2-Property tables will be developed using specimens and methods recommended in Guide D1999.

1.1 This practice covers the general principles to be followed when injection molding test specimens of thermosetting materials. It is to be used to obtain uniformity in methods of describing the various steps of the injection molding process and in the reporting of those conditions. The exact molding conditions will vary from material to material, and should become part of the material specification or be agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier.Note 1--The utility of this practice has been demonstrated for the molding of thermosetting molding compounds exhibiting lower-viscosity non-Newtonian flow.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.3 This practice assumes the use of reciprocating screw injection molding machines.Note 2--This standard is similar in content (but not technically equivalent) to ISO 10724: 1994(E).

1.1 This specification provides for the identification of virgin, unmodified ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) plastics molding and extrusion materials. This identification is made in such a manner that the seller and purchaser can agree on the acceptability of different commercial lots or shipments.1.2 It is not intended to differentiate between various molecular weight grades of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene commercially available.1.3 It is not the function of this specification to provide specific engineering data for design purposes.1.4 Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylenes, as defined in this specification, are those linear polymers of ethylene which have a relative viscosity of 1.44 or greater, in accordance with the test procedures described herein.1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.6 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test method portion. Section 7, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.Note 18212;There is no ISO equivalent specification. However, in ISO 11542-1, a range of viscosity numbers defines the viscosity of UHMW-PE grades. The viscosity numbers are determined in accordance with ISO 1628-3.

1.1 The test method establishes the procedures for evaluation of the deformations of a geosynthetic or combination of geosynthetics (that is, geocomposite (excluding geotextiles, geomembranes and geosynthetic clay liners)) under short-term compressive loading. This test method is strictly an index test method to be used to verify the compressive strength consistency of a given manufactured geosynthetic(s). Results from this test method should not be considered as an indication of actual or long-term performance of the geosynthetic(s) in field applications. 1.2 Since these geosynthetics may experience multidirectional compressive loadings in the field, this test method will not show actual field performance and should not be used for this specific objective. The evaluator of the results should also recognize that the determination of the short term single plane compressive behavior of geosynthetics does not reflect the installed performance of synthetic drainage systems and, therefore, should not be used as the only method of product specification or performance with respect to synthetic drainage systems. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4 The values in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. 1.1 This test method covers the determination of the resistance to breakage by flexural shock of plastics, as indicated by the energy extracted from standardized (Note 1) pendulum-type hammers, mounted in standardized machines, in breaking standard specimens with one pendulum swing. The result of this test is reported in terms of impact strength per unit of specimen width. Note 1-The machines with their pendulum-type hammers have been standardized in that they must comply with certain requirements, including a fixed height of hammer fall that results in a substantially fixed velocity of the hammer at the moment of impact. Hammers of different initial energies (produced by varying their effective weights) are recommended for use with specimens of different impact strengths. Moreover, manufacturers of the equipment are permitted to use different lengths and constructions of pendulums (with resulting possible differences in pendulum rigidities (see Section 4), and other differences in machine design). 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. PVC compounds are used in a wide variety of products and hence they are formulated to provide a wide range of physical properties. The physical properties required in a compound depend upon the product in which it is used. These properties are largely determined by the type, quantity, and quality of the compounding ingredients. The analytical test method described below makes use of infrared spectrophotometry for the qualitative or quantitative determination, or both, of many of these ingredients in PVC compounds. This test method may be used for a variety of applications including process control, raw material acceptance, product evaluation, and determination of changes in composition resulting from environmental testing. This test method is directly applicable only to those components listed in the appendix and to those components which are known to be similar in chemical composition and in solubility characteristics to the chemicals listed in the appendix. 1.1 This test method provides for the identification of certain resins, plasticizers, stabilizers, and fillers in poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) compounds by an infrared spectrophotometric technique. In many cases, individual components may be measured quantitatively. Complementary procedures, such as chromatographic and other separations, will be necessary to separate specific components and extend the applications of this test method. Other instrumental test methods, such as optical emission or X-ray spectroscopic methods, may yield complementary information which may allow more complete or, in some cases, easier measurement of the components. The resin components covered in this test method are listed in the appendix.1.2 PVC formulations are too varied to be covered adequately by a single test method. Using the following test method, many compounds may be separated into resins, plasticizers, stabilizers, and fillers. A number of components can be quantitatively measured. Many more can be identified and their concentrations estimated. By the use of prepared standards, one may determine the usefulness and accuracy of the test method for specific PVC formulations. This test method is applicable for the resin components listed in the appendix and for other components having similar chemical compositions and solubility characteristics. This test method can lead to error in cases where the nature of the components is not known.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values in brackets are given for information only.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.Note 18212;There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard.
